Dreadlocks, the thirsty roots of black men.

   You know the feeling of  seeing black men on dreadlocks is magic. When I was younger thought men who wear dreadlocks were from Jamaica, who listened to Reggae and smoked weed( lol) In  the sense they were irresponsible men. But dreads are now the new black for men. The style of your dreadlocks defines you and your inner style either  Rastafarian style like Bob Marely's or short natural dreads like J Cole's.

             
Dreadlocks, also locs, dreads , or in Sanskrit , Jata,  are ropelike strands of hair formed by matting or braiding hair.
While leaving hair to its own devices – foregoing brushing, combing or cutting the
hair – will generally result in tangles and mats, the formation of evenly sized
dreadlocks takes planning and maintenance.

Various methods are used to encourage the formation of locks such as backcombing,
braiding, rolling and the crochet hook method. All of these methods require
ongoing work to be applied to the dread before it becomes neat and tight or mature.
However, if the crochet hook method is applied by a skilled hand throughout the
length of the dread, then the resulting dreadlocks are instantly tight and will not
need any rolling at all.
A common misconception is that those who have consciously formed dreadlocks do not wash their hair, but this is usually not the case; in fact many dreadlock care regimens
require the wearer to wash their hair as regularly as non-locked hair.

how black men want to look. The misconception that men who wear dreadlocks are unkempt is so wrong. With this looks they hardly look like they are unkempt and it can be kept by stylists.

Back then, men on dreadlocks were shamed as unserious or just some hood guy who does not know style. I guess now if you are a black man

you have not wore dreads then you dont know style.
